Here, before you, sits the atmospheric, ethereal lovechild of clichéd music reviews and bingo. No doubt it elicits a nostalgic vibe: You’ve witnessed many of these catchy gems of words and phrases before. (And perhaps you’ve already seen the compelling, nuanced tour de force that is Book Review Cliché Bingo.) Writers have a penchant for using clichés — they are irresistible. They have infectiously crooned their way into the critical soundscape, specifically in the visceral, post-lo-fi-chillwave-gaze world we live in. Now you can pseudo-experience it all, in bingo form. It’s like playing bingo… on acid.

YES!!!!!!!!!
Maybe this just proves that all the bands everyone is listening to sound the same. The smarter blogs just post photos and say “____ played last night” or copy and paste the press release.
I think it just proves that it’s possible for a writer to be so cliche that two audibly different bands appear the same on text. Those sites that just post photos and the press release at least spare us the vagueness of “atmospheric.”
Hey, they forgot “eponymous.” As the map elsewhere on F-pill today suggests (see below), no one here is innocent. Everyone’s riding the same rails and rehashing the same stuff, and there are only so many words available to people who try to describe bands. It’s a tiresome, thankless profession. Except that it’s not a profession. For most people, it’s a detour on the winding road to law school or the poorhouse or something equally abysmal … like being a meta-rock critic. Rock on!

YOU FORGOT “WOOZY”. Otherwise, perfect.
They also forgot “plangent,” one of the fave rock-critic 10 cent words. What the heck does it mean?
You know what would have made this perfect? If they would have put “filler” instead of “free space.” Heh.
Coruscating. A crit-word, frequently applied to guitars. I’m sure Bingo 2.0 will have it.
[...] And then I saw this today over at Favourwire. Music review cliché Bingo! [...]
