The world of Twitter can be hard to navigate. We know that you’re already following us @flavorpill, but we decided it would be fun (and possibly helpful) if we rounded up some of our other Twitter favorites in a series we call “The Followables.” This seventh installment of Twitter all-stars spotlights a group of celebrities you might have forgotten — the former child TV stars we love. Do us a favor and leave a comment with anyone who you enjoy who didn’t make our list.
Who: Mallory Keaton from Family Ties
Why: She’s an avid tweeter who’s still connected with her TV family. Plus, she’s secretly artsy!
Who: Tia from Sister, Sister
Why: Okay, so maybe she gets a little “inspirational” at times. But she seems sweet and actually appears to have a normal life.
Who: Candace Cameron Bure, a.k.a. DJ Tanner from Full House
Why: Because while she may be religious, she’s not obnoxious about it like her brother, Growing Pains’ Kirk Cameron. Plus, her sentimental missives seem totally appropriate for a grown-up DJ.
Who: Jodie Sweetin, a.k.a. Stephanie Tanner from Full House
Why: After a long, post-Full House slide into alcoholism and drug abuse, Sweetin has put her life back together and started a family. The subtext to each of her tweets is a basic gratefulness for the mundane.
Who: Rider Strong, a.k.a. Shawn Hunter from Boy Meets World
Why: Instead of appearing on Dancing with the Stars or The Surreal Life, Strong and his brother Shiloh have become independent filmmakers. Their work is interesting, and his tweets are funny and intelligent.
Who: Tori Spelling, a.k.a. Donna Martin from Beverly Hills, 90210
Why: After breaking free from her late father, Tori has launched a reality-TV empire that shows some serious self-awareness. The lady has a sense of camp. And if you’re secretly charmed by her Oxygen series, as we are, you’ll want to tune in for tweets about the show.
Who: Steve Urkel from Family Matters
Why: He’s a jokester and a sports fan, and he plays hastag games!
Who: Melissa Joan Hart, a.k.a. Clarissa Darling from Clarissa Explains It All and Sabrina Spellman from Sabrina the Teenage Witch
Why: She’s into music and teaching herself to play guitar. We think Clarissa would be proud.
Who: Darlene Conner from Roseanne
Why: She’s smart and frank, with the same dry, self-deprecating wit we loved in Darlene.
Who: Danny Tamberelli, a.k.a. Little Pete from The Adventures of Pete & Pete
Why: Back in the day, he was a role model for bizarre kids everywhere. Now, at 28, he shares many of ’90s points of reference and seems to maintain an affection for our beloved Pete & Pete.
