Daily Dose Pick: A Collection a Day

3

Artist and illustrator Lisa Congdon’s A Collection a Day is a year-long online art project that turns obsessions into things of beauty.

Congdon loves things: specifically, collecting, arranging, and displaying things. From antiques to rare books, and from spoons and canceled stamps to light bulbs, bird houses, bingo cards, and animal figurines, Congdon’s meticulous 365-day daily display depicts her myriad collections with affection and reverence. Via photos, drawings, and paintings, she presents all manner of random objects, including the imaginary.

Browse the growing number of daily collections, follow the artist on Twitter, and view the rest of her fine-art work on her official website.

i miss writing in pencil and using those pink pearl erasers!

Inspiring…I do this in my mind/imagination; the artist inspires me to photograph my extemporary collections.

This project is very similar to the work of Texas artist, Paho Mann. Paho did a great sorting, photographing and categorizing project for the City of Phoenix Public Works Department to educate citizens about recycling. http://www.pahomann.com/
