Does this video make anyone else feel kind of sorry for Weezer? Sure, the crowd seems happy, but we can’t imagine Rivers enjoyed singing the tired hits of artists who are nearly half his age. Maybe he was being ironic (this is the same man who invented the “Wuggie”) and we just don’t get it. [via Stereogum]
On a side note, Lady Gaga just became “the third artist in the 16-year history of the Mainstream Top 40 airplay chart to collect three No. 1 songs from a debut album.” We don’t care if Kelsey sees her as a design icon, this is unacceptable.

I wish they would just stick to El Scorcho and videos with the muppets.
[...] Weezer covering MGMT and Lady Gaga at a recent concert. We sort-of love it but the folks at FlavorWire think it’s, well, [...]
That's sad when Weezer doesn't have enough of its own material to fill a show. That being said the covers were actually pretty good — minus the weird montage editing of the video.
seriously? I loved it… really clever. GirlTalk must be jealous. :)
its hard for anyone to know why they do what they do. or why anyone does what they do. i like mgmt. i like gaga. the sound felt a bit flat. but all that aside; i don’t think music has to always be so serious. and every song, album, performance and publicity stunt analyzed. maybe they just liked those tunes, or the energy, or the feeling of doing something new. we are all trying to escape redundancy on some level. rock stars included. and let’s face it. if it doesn’t make you feel good, why do it?

I thought it was fun, they’ve always thrown a few covers in here and there.
