Steven Soderbergh Shot a Horror Movie on an iPhone Due Out Next Year

Insert joke here about Steven Soderbergh not staying retired for long. His next film is a horror movie starring Claire Foy, Juno Temple, and Jay Pharoah, set for a March 23, 2018 release. Oh, and Unsane was shot entirely on an iPhone.

According to Pharoah, the shoot for the “reality-horror type” movie, which he compared to the Jordan Peele-directed Get Out, lasted about a week. Some of the editing was done on set. Jonathan Bernstein and James Greer wrote the film, “which centers on a young woman (Foy) who is involuntarily committed to a mental institution where she is confronted by her greatest fear — but is it real or is it a product of her delusion?”

Soderbergh is no stranger to unusual formats. His HBO project Mosaic, starring Sharon Stone, is an interactive series released in two parts: an app that is available now or you can wait until January 22, 2018 to watch it on the cable network. Take a peek, below.
