Steven Soderbergh was “retired” from filmmaking for four years, but his retirement saw him directing every episode of two seasons of the sadly cancelled The Knick, shooting and editing the sequel to his Magic Mike, and producing Ocean’s Eight, the all-women Ocean’s movie spinoff — and that retirement is now just completely over: the director has made a new heist movie, which he told Entertainment Weekly is “a complete inversion of an Ocean’s movie. It’s an anti-glam version of an Ocean’s movie. Nobody dresses nice. Nobody has nice stuff. They have no money. They have no technology. It’s all rubber band technology.” The film, Logan Lucky, now has a trailer – and in it, you’ll get the gift of seeing Channing Tatum, Adam Driver, and Riley Keough as siblings beleaguered by a family curse, enlisting an incarcerated platinum blond Daniel Craig to carry out a NASCAR heist to break it — by making them very illegally rich.
The film, which also boasts performances from Hillary Swank and Katherine Waterston, will be released on August 18. Watch the trailer:
